MISSION TO UGANDA

rebcca and carolineIn the summer of 2010 Rebecca Wattier and Caroline Edwards will be travelling to Jinja,Uganda, East Africa to work with Sonrise Baby Home. Sonrise is an orphanage that takes in children from birth to 4-years old. These kids are nursed back to health and raised in a loving, Christian environment. Being taught the love of Christ as well as basic preschool/kindergarten skills, these kids will have a great foundation to build on.

Sonrise was started out of the vision of Damali Mirembe Wattier, one of the orphans that grew up in Good Shepherds Fold where the Wattier family served for several years in Uganda. Realizing that the care she and her brothers and sisters received there helped her be succesful in life, she wanted provide a place for other kids to do to the same.

The purpose of their trip is three-fold:

  1. Give Damali and the other care takers at Sonrise a little break and some encouragement (imagine taking care of 13kids 24/7!)
  2. Help take care and teach the kids that are currently at Sonrise,and
  3. Take lots of pictures and video, and gather information so that we can come back and share how people here can get involved and help Sonrise with future projects.
